WLC Faculty/Staff Request: Technology Lab

Type of Technology

The WLC offers high-resolution, resin 3D printing on a Formlabs Form3 printer. Our dedicated 3D printing room is in Room 212 on the second floor of Boatwright Library.

Initial meetings to begin prints usually take around 30 minutes. The prints themselves can take anywhere from 5 to 20 hours, depending on the size and complexity of your model. After your print finishes, we will guide you through the cleaning and curing process, but you are ultimately expected to do it; cleaning can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending again on the size and complexity of your piece, as well as the level of refinement you want. Keep in mind that there is a limit on how many pieces you can print within a short time frame, as to allow access to the printers for all students and faculty. If you are planning on multiple prints, check with staff before starting to see if arrangements can be made. During high-volume times, the printer is reserved for academic projects for credit-earning classes.

Technology Learning at the Weinstein Learning Center offers large-format poster printing for University of Richmond community members working on credit-bearing class projects and conference materials. Our HP DesignJet 9+ printer can accommodate posters up to 58inches in width.

Faculty, staff, and students are responsible for creating and preparing their posters for printing. Posters should be formatted to the final print size and can be designed using PowerPoint, Illustrator, Google Slides, or Photoshop. Appointments are required for printing, and users must be present during the printing process. During this busy season, ANY poster printing appointment more than 5 minutes late will be canceled. For orders of multiple copies or large quantities, users will be directed to the UR Print Shop, where they will be responsible for the printing costs.
